Sometimes your house just needs a little bit of staging before you put it out there for buyers to see. Here are 5 quick ways to stage your home to make it more attractive to potential buyers. No matter the property’s price, you want your house looking its best.
Staging Tip #1: Neturalize
You want to neutralize some of the colors in your home to make it feel clean and spacious. If you have heavy or dark curtains, think about buying some inexpensive white panels and swapping them out. This will make the space appear bigger and brighter. Also white towels for your bathrooms, they do a great job of giving a bathroom a clean spa-like appearance.
Staging Tip #2: Declutter
One of the best ways to make your home feel larger is to declutter. The biggest culprit is the entryway. Don’t have shoes and coats piled up, it’s giving buyers the wrong first impression. While you are decluttering don’t forget about your closets and storage spaces. You might be able to hide your clutter in closets for pictures but when someone is viewing your house I guarantee they will be opening your closets. If they are unorganized and overflowing with stuff it will feel like your house has no storage.
Staging Tip #3: Depersonalize
You want to remove as many personal items and knick knacks as possible and replace them with a few key accent pieces to keep the space feeling welcoming. Things like neutral coloured flowers, greenery, baskets, throw pillows and blankets will help to keep the space warm and inviting. And while you are depersonalizing your space, think about removing family photos and replacing them with artwork that is more generic or abstract.
Staging Tip #4: Lighting
Shop your home and move around your lamps to make sure that each room has lots of light. Think about swapping out some of your light bulbs. In some spaces a brighter bulb or one that is warmer or cooler could completely transform the look and feel of a space.
Staging Tip #5: Keep it Tidy
Get rid of all the mess. Pick up laundry and toys off the floor, wash your dishes in the sink and make your bed. Bedding is one area where you can invest a little money if you don’t have a nice comforter or pillows as it makes a big impact in the look of the bedroom. Also, decorative baskets are really handy to help you tidy up quickly if you get a viewing request on short notice.
